ITs so Fluffy!!
On Wednesday a very strange thing happened. It started out a normal day at work and yet something hung over the place like a cloud waiting to deliver a surprise rain. The first signs that something was going on was my coworkers suddenly taking pictures with a tourist. Not just one, or two, but four of my coworkers with the same guy. Then two of them split off and went back to the counter, as the tourist in question followed. He was a larger man and to be honest, I didn't see what was so special about him. After he left I was finally enlightened. The famous comedian G. Iglesias was here. Now if you are anything like me, the first thing i said was, "huh?" After i was informed that I live under a rock, they explained that he was a comedian that most of my coworkers knew of for his interesting perspective and humorous insight. I went home that night to see for myself. And all i can say is...well that was interesting. Dont get me wrong, it was nice to have a celebrity walking around but to me, the only part that got me was that he calls himself Fluffy. And everytime i think of that, one singular phrase floats through my mind. " It's so fluffy I'm going ot die!!!"Admit it, some of you thought that too. :)

A quant Irish Gentleman and his lady
A job in the tourist industry ensures that one will meet people from all over the planet. I've met many German, French, Japanese, Chinese, and Italian people. They were all amazingly unique and interesting and wonderful specimens of the differences of culture. But today I met a couple from Ireland; and they lit up my day. It was a three minute encounter but as my coworkers will inform you, it affected my accent for the rest of my shift. They simply came over to my counter and we struck up a conversation. We talked about their trip and normal things, but then the talk moved more to how different we ( the people they had met in my town) seemed then them. They talked about how all the girls were pretty and the guys probably flying in from everywhere to find a girl here. Now for most this seems a bit strange. I thought so a little at first but then he looked down at his wife with glowing eyes and said with a voice drenched with devotion, " If only they be as lucky as me." I nearly sighed out loud....... It was beautiful to watch such a scene play out in real life. They said goodbye not long after and wandered away through the building. I caught a glimpse of them here and there but then it got busy. The next time I looked up, the group was gone. It was then that i let myself sigh and dream a bit. I hope that i will be so fortunate one day; but for now that memory will linger. The couple from Dublin left a memory and i hope that wherever they go, or even where they are right now, that others will be ecouraged and affected by them. They are the fairytale... true love in a simple older couple from Ireland

The Taxi Driver
The truth and description: On first sight he looked scruffy and unkept. Not in that full hobo way, but close....definitly close. As he walked by I could tell that he had recently stopped smoking. The smell was there but it was faint compared to people who smoke everyday. He wore a baseball cap with a faded flannel shirt and old tennis shoes poking out under beaten up jeans.
He told me that he use to handle the books for a rich guy. He seemed kinda proud of it. Then a buddy talked him into coming to Alaska and driving the taxi for good money. He said that it wasnt his dream job but it was a good job. He told me all the good things about it but seemed to try to convince himself while explaining the perks. He dreams of doing this in the summer but maybe trying to do it somewhere else during the winter.
The fiction ideas:
1. He was let go from his last job because his boss was sent to prison and now he feels that he is slumming it.
2. He was a riches to rags story.
3. Hes a spy waiting to pick up his target.
4. Hes a writer, driving a taxi so he can write about his passengers.

The People Project:Explained
English majors. We have issues. One such issue is that we make up stories about everyone, everything, and everyplace we see. Now it is entertaining for us to try and guess the story behind everything but it is also strange when people see us laughing randomly about nothing they can see. Some english majors have even been committed for such events. So I thought it would be wise to get this down before they lock me in that nice, comfy padded cell with a new jacket. So here it is. My project for the summer and maybe even into the rest of 2012. I am going to document someone i meet every day and tell a bit of the story ideas that run in my head about them. Sometimes there will be real facts about them along with the stuff i make up. But since most of the ideas come about people i pass in the busyness of my day, there may be many days where everything i write about them may be untrue. I won't use any names so if it sounds like i write about you or a paticular person you may know, then...well...hopefully its not. :P
This is the project and hopefully I will stay faithful on it. Onward!
